Inspired by a profound personal moment, BALOU’s founder, a seasoned professional with over 15 years in the fashion industry, embarked on a journey to create a brand that is as nurturing as it is fashionable.
When and where did you first begin?
I myself have been in the fashion industry for over 15 years, gaining qualifications and working in various different aspects of the sector. BALOU was founded in 2020 following a personal life moment. The creation of the brand was totally inspired by the birth of my child, a brand that was made for her, a brand she could be proud of, a brand that would aid in me being the best mother I could be, a brand that would represent the both of us, a brand with a voice, that champions all women and mothers. No matter how 'together' or not they have it. Along with the beautiful Mini-me products we offer, I wanted to provide a space where we can talk about Motherhood, the highs, the lows, the love, and the realness.
Where does your design inspiration come from?
At BALOU, we pride ourselves on offering an expertly curated selection of clothing that epitomises affordable luxury. Our collections are designed with the modern mother in mind, blending fashion-forward sensibilities with understated simplicity. Each piece in our line is a wardrobe must-have, crafted to meet the diverse needs of today’s women, who balance multiple roles with grace and style.
Our signature collections feature premium staple items that serve as the foundation of a versatile and chic wardrobe. Every piece is thoughtfully designed to ensure maximum comfort and quality, allowing mothers to look and feel their best throughout their busy days.

Empowering, Timeless, Luxury
What is the most difficult aspect of running your own label?
The most difficult aspect is wearing many hats in the company, having to go through the mistakes due to the learning of all the different roles needed to run my own label. I am primarily a designer, skilled mostly in all things creative. However it surely empowering having learnt from the mistakes in all aspects of the business, and continuously mastering new knowledge in all parts of running a business.
Which part of the creative process do you enjoy most, and least?
Truth be told, I enjoy all parts of the creative process. I am in my element when designing new products; and thoroughly enjoy the process of sampling and amending until I achieve my vision. If I had to select the least enjoyable; it would vibe when there are inevitably bumps in the process of development whereby we face challenges of finding exactly the right fabrics, colours and details I envision when designing.
Do you have a mentor?
I have a couple of business advisors within my local growth hub that I can lean on for advice which is very beneficial.
How long did your latest collection take to create?
The latest collection took approximately 6 months to create from design development to production.
What are your future plans?
Future plans include:
- Continuing to expand our collections
- Expanding our sustainable operations
- Entering the international market including the UAE
- Affiliating BALOU with our chosen charity (introduction undergone)
- Gaining an influencer brand ambassador (in process)

We believe in the power of understated simplicity, with fashion-forward designs that remain timeless, our products hold the concept of must have staples. Long lasting versatile pieces for every wardrobe.
