NOCHEÉ VIDA DESIGNER INTERVIEW

A Fashion Design graduate from National Institute of Fashion Technology (India), Vallari Kaushik persuaded her Master’s degree in Fashion Design Collection at the Istituto Marangoni, Italy. During her time there, she was able to work on projects with prolific brands like Stefano Ricci, Orciani and Ermanno Scervino. Her rooted Indian sensibility of textile and surfaces gained unique credibility during her project with Stefano Ricci. After seeking mentorship from the renowned Indian Couture designer, Varun Bahl, Vallari Kaushik showcased her SS20 “Gateway to Comfort” Collection at PITTI SUPER 2019 and garnered international stocking of her label NOCHEÉ VIDA. Her personality and knowledge of both worlds is reflected onto the silhouettes and prints of the brand. Each piece is designed meticulously to bring together Art, Fashion and Culture of the two worlds. The comfort-wear collection has Robes, Camisoles, Travel Coordinates, Jumpsuit’s and Dresses. Vallari's label 'NOCHEÉ VIDA' has been featured in prestigious magazines like ELLE India and Linea Intima Magazine, Italy. The brand’s collection is available at 15 stores across Italy, India, and Sri Lanka.

Inspired by travel, a rendezvous with fashion in Italy and sensibility rooted in Indian tradition, Vallari Kaushik, in a chat with the clothing Lounge takes us through her process of design…

When and where did you first begin?

    My creative talent was scouted by Istituto Marangoni in 2017 when I was given a scholarship for my Master’s, in the city of Art and Architecture, Florence, Italy. During my Master’s course at the university, I was able to work on projects with brands like Stefano Ricci, Orciani and Ermanno Scervino. My Indian sensibility of textile and surfaces gained unique credibility during my project with Stefano Ricci. 

    Where does your design inspiration come from?

      Travelling plays a huge role in inspiring me, however my Indian roots have always held me close enough. My collections are a fusion of the experiences I gain by travelling to different places across globe and Indian hand craft skills.

      The Ancient art and Architecture of Rome has been the inspiration for the SS20 collection namely- The cobblestone streets of Rome, Elaborate wood crafted doors and door knobs, Artworks in Sistine Chapel by Michael Angelo. The collection has Signature Timeless and Dream prints on traditional textiles of India. Luminous motifs picked from streets of Rome such as Lion head door knob & Angels are crafted into western silhouettes. The comfort-wear collection has Robes, Camisoles, Travel Coordinates, Jumpsuit’s and Dresses.

        What is the most difficult aspect of running your own label?

          PERSEVERENCE

          Which part of the creative process do you enjoy most and least?

            I absolutely enjoy everything in the creative process. I am always excited to discover new things while designing. I love getting my hands dirty and discussing ideas with my NV family. The final outcome of the collect is a blessing.

                Four months

                   Expand the culture of NOCHEÉ VIDA worldwide and do philanthropic work for Animals & Mankind.
